James Jr. Turner

James Jr. Turner was born on March 6, 1951, in Hemingway, South Carolina, to Henry James Williams (Bubba) and Fannie Lee Turner Graves. James was the oldest of eleven children and attended Hemingway High School. James was a hardworking man whose dedication to his work led to his retirement from Newark Preschools. After retirement, James looked forward to spending more time with his family and enjoying the precious moments they shared together. James touched many lives in his own special way. He taught us valuable lessons through his words, his actions, and the way he lived his life. Although he was not perfect, he was our father, our brother, our uncle, our nephew, our friend, and that is something that can never be replaced. The memories we shared with him will forever remain in our hearts. James departed this life on July 9, 2026, when God called him home. He will be reunited with his parents and grandparents; his daughter, Jessica; his brothers, Hank and Larry; his sisters, Tine, Janice, Myeshia, Joanne, and Lorethea; and his niece, Mo. He will also be welcomed into paradise by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who preceded him in death. James leaves to cherish his memory and mourn his passing his sons, James, Reginald, and Justin; his grandchildren, Nyesha, Tyshawn, KeAnthony, Khadafi, Saphire, Jamari, and Brycen; his siblings, Ruthie Mae Bray and Vernice (Talib) McFadden. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his aunts and uncles, Dawud (Geneva), Shellie, Naomi, and Lisa, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family extends a special and heartfelt thank you to James' cousins, Randy and Freddie, for always being there for him. We also extend our sincere gratitude to his brother-in-law Talib, for his assistance and support. A special thank you is also extended to his neighbor, Paul and his wife, who were a great help to James. We are deeply grateful to everyone who took the time to check on him and offer their support.
