William "BRO" Stokes

William E. Stokes affectionately loved as "BRO Stokes" was born on May 20, 1949, to William Stokes Sr. and Willena Payne Stokes. After High School, he enlisted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Upon completing his tour of Vietnam, he returned to Vidalia Ga. gaining employment with Oxford Industries. Later he proudly became a valued member of the Transport Division, of Piggly Wiggly Southern as one of its over the road drivers. Influencing younger generational family members to follow his example of dedication reliability, and company loyalty. William was a devoted Father Figure and leader of his entire family. He entered into matrimony only once committing his life to his only wife Dr. Berrnice F. Stokes. From that union Mr. and Mrs. Stokes united two very large families that has held its bond of love, and mutual respect for each other, spanning over 54 years. On the morning of July 31, 2026, William Bro Stokes, passed away after an extended illness, which caused the incredible pain of loss to engulf his family. The shock of his passing spread quickly throughout the entire community, as condolences and act of kindness poured in due to the loss of a great friend, and great family member.
