Lourdes E. Colon

March 23, 1949 — August 14, 2026

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our beloved Lourdes, who left us on August 14, 2026. Lourdes was born on March 23, 1949, in the bustling heart of New York City. Her journey through life was one of dedication, kindness, and love, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. Lourdes devoted over 27 years to nurturing young minds as a teacher in the Dominican Republic. She was not only a beacon of knowledge and inspiration to her students but also a compassionate mentor who believed in the power of education to change lives. Her commitment to her students was unparalleled, and her legacy as an educator will continue to inspire future generations. Above all, Lourdes was the cornerstone of her family. She is survived by her three loving daughters: Martina Peralta, Josefina Colon, and Cesarina Solas. Her nurturing spirit and boundless love extended to her nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored and cherished deeply. Lourdes's family was her pride and joy, and she relished every moment spent in their company, offering them unwavering support and unconditional love. A service to celebrate Lourdes’s life will be held on August 19, 2026, at 3:30 PM at Ortiz Funeral Home, located at 2121 Parkchester Avenue, Bronx, NY 10462. Family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by Lourdes are invited to attend and honor her memory. In this time of profound sadness, the family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the hospital staff for the wonderful care and compassion they provided to Lourdes. Their kindness and dedication brought comfort to Lourdes and her family during her final days. Lourdes will forever remain in our hearts, a cherished memory that will be lovingly held by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life was a testament to the power of love, education, and family. As we gather to celebrate her remarkable life, we carry forward her legacy with love, strength, and gratitude. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Lourdes's honor to a charity of your choice, reflecting her lifelong dedication to making the world a better place. Forever in our hearts, Lourdes's spirit will continue to live on in every life she touched.
