Louise R. Barrow, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, at the age of 95 in the comforting presence of her immediate family. Born on March 5, 1931, in the vibrant city of Portland, Oregon, Louise was the beloved daughter of Fred and Elizabeth Reed.
In her youth, Louise embraced the lively spirit of Portland and the north Oregon coast which shaped her warm and generous nature. She was a loving sister to her late brother, Malcolm Reed, and her kindness and humor were traits admired by all who knew her.
Louise met the love of her life, Paul R. Barrow, and on May 16, 1954, they began a wonderful journey together as husband and wife - living their first year of marriage in Japan. Their marriage spanned 50 beautiful years until Paul's passing in 2004. Together, they created a loving family, raising their children with endless devotion and care.
Louise was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Elizabeth, her beloved husband Paul, her cherished daughter Anne L. Barrow, her brother Malcolm and her later in life partner, Armand Smith. Her enduring strength and resilience were evident as she navigated these profound losses with grace.
Louise is survived by her devoted children: son Stephen C. Barrow and his wife Christine, son David R. Barrow, and daughter Mollie E. Barrow. Her legacy is carried forward by her three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. Louise's family was her pride and joy, and she found immense happiness in their achievements and shared moments.
A gentle soul with an unwavering dedication to her family, Louise was also a supportive friend and a compassionate neighbor. Her home was a haven of warmth, often filled with laughter and the delicious aroma of her famous homemade meals.
Louise's life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and resilience. Her gentle spirit touched everyone she met, leaving a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew her. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and the simple pleasures of life, always with an open heart and a welcoming smile.
