Louise Hunt Walley

December 21, 1939 — April 1, 2026

December 21, 1939 – April 1, 2026 It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Louise Hunt Walley on April 1, 2026, at the age of 86. Louise departed this world at Baptist Hospital, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear. Born in Reedy, West Virginia, on December 21, 1939, Louise was the cherished daughter of Donald and Sarah Hunt. Her early years were marked by a love of music and community, as she gracefully twirled her baton as a majorette in the marching band at Nederland High School. Louise's ability to bring joy and unity to any gathering was a gift she carried throughout her life. On April 20, 1958, Louise married the love of her life, Larry Walley, and together they built a beautiful life in Purvis, Mississippi. Their home became a haven of warmth and hospitality, where family and friends were always welcome, and love was the foundation. Together, they cultivated a large garden, sharing the bounty of their tomatoes with all who needed them, embodying the spirit of generosity that defined Louise's life. Louise's professional journey saw her become a valued member of the local bank, where she dedicated many years in various roles before becoming an invaluable asset to the loan department. Her commitment to her work was only surpassed by her devotion to her family. Louise took immense pride in supporting the dreams and accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always ready with encouragement and love. A devout member of the First Baptist Church in Purvis for over 60 years, Louise's faith was a guiding force in her life. She found joy in her church community, attending services and participating in activities that enriched her spirit and those around her. Louise is survived by her beloved children, Sheila Craft (Robert) and Dwayne Walley (Donna), who carry forward her legacy of love and strength. Her grandchildren, Joshia Craft (Amy), Justin Craft (Allison), and Zachary Walley (Briley), and great-grandchildren, Lathan Craft, Elaina Craft, and Lily Craft, were the light of her life. Louise is also survived by her dear sisters, Jean Jackson and Donna Hutson, who shared in the joys and sorrows of her journey. A service to celebrate the extraordinary life of Louise Hunt Walley will be held on April 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Moore Funeral Home in Purvis, MS. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional staff at Baptist Hospital’s ICU for their compassionate care and medical knowledge during Louise's final days. As we bid farewell to a remarkable woman who touched so many lives, we remember Louise for her quiet strength, her boundless generosity, and her unwavering love for family and friends. Her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
