In Loving Memory

Louise Barnes
July 15, 1935 — April 1, 2026
It is with heavy hearts yet profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of our beloved Louise Barnes, who peacefully departed this earthly realm on April 1, 2026, at the age of 90. Louise was surrounded by love and transitioned with grace at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, to claim her rightful place in God’s Heavenly Kingdom.
Born on July 15, 1935, in Ruleville, Mississippi, Louise was the cherished daughter of the late Sadie Luckett Barnes and Otis Lee Barnes Sr. She carried forward the enduring legacy of her parents’ love and strength, which served as a guiding light throughout her lifetime.
Louise dedicated 35 years of her professional life to nurturing and inspiring young minds at Ruleville Central High School, where her commitment to education and her students was unwavering. Her influence extended beyond the classroom, as she embodied the values of kindness, resilience, and dedication in all her endeavors.
A devout woman of faith, Louise embraced Christ as her Savior at an early age and was baptized at New Jerusalem M.B. Church under the compassionate guidance of Reverend A.J. Robinson. Her faith community was a source of strength and solace throughout her life, and she remained a devoted member for many years.
Louise’s legacy continues through her four loving children: Otis Barnes (Elizabeth) of Savannah, Georgia; Mamie Barnes of Ruleville, Mississippi; Mattie Williams (David) of Jackson, Mississippi; and Milton Barnes of Cleveland, Mississippi. She was the proud grandmother of four grandchildren—Tijuana Boyd, Avery Mims of Memphis, Tennessee, Xavier Williams of Ruleville, Mississippi, and Nikita Foster (Thomas) of Dallas, Texas—and the great-grandmother to five adored great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy, and she reveled in their achievements, offering endless love and support.
The family invites all who knew and loved Louise to join them in a celebration of her life on April 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM at William Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, located at 915 Byron Street, Ruleville, Mississippi. This service will be an opportunity to honor the beautiful life Louise led and the immense love she shared with all who had the privilege to know her.
In this time of sorrow and reflection, Louise’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the abundant expressions of love and support from friends, family, and the community. Your thoughtful acts of kindness, whether through gifts, hugs, phone calls, texts, cards, food, flowers, or simply keeping them in your thoughts, have been a source of immense comfort. They are eternally grateful and pray that God continues to bless and keep you all.
Louise’s warmth, wisdom, and unwavering faith will forever be etched in our hearts. As we say goodbye, we carry forward her legacy of love and kindness, knowing she watches over us with a smile from above.
