Louis S. Rappa, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, in the company of his cherished family, after a severe stroke. Born on February 6, 1943, in Newark, New Jersey, Louis lived a life marked by devotion, laughter, and service. The son of Geraldine Nicolette-Rappa and Leonard Rappa, Louis was raised with a deep sense of family values and integrity. He is predeceased by his mother, Geraldine, and his sister, Rose Alloca. Louis leaves behind a legacy of love shared with his wife of 57 wonderful years, Amelia Jo, whose partnership he cherished deeply since they wed on February 9, 1969, in Long Branch, New Jersey. Louis is survived by his father, Leonard Rappa, who, at 107 years old, continues to be an inspiration to the family. He is also survived by his devoted children: Leonard Rappa and his spouse, Marty Gloss; Anthony Rappa and his wife, Lisa Rappa; and Maria Rappa-Ossler and her husband, Jason Ossler. Louis's pride and joy were his grandchildren, Angelina Rappa, Jasmine, and Zackary Ossler, who will forever carry forward his legacy. After graduating from Freehold High School in 1961, Louis pursued his passion for learning by earning a bachelor's degree in social studies from Monmouth College in 1977. His life of service began with a distinguished tenure in the US Air Force from 1963 to 1967, where he served as a Military Police officer, notably stationed in the Philippines. His commitment to duty was recognized with an honorable discharge. Louis's professional life was dedicated to ensuring the well-being of communities through his work as a water and wastewater treatment operator. Over three decades, his expertise and diligence benefited the residents of Monmouth County, New Jersey, as well as Cooper City and Hallandale, Florida. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Louis was a man of diverse interests and vibrant spirit. His love for gardening showcased his nurturing nature, while his passion for reading reflected his lifelong quest for knowledge. Music and dancing brought him immense joy, and he was known to light up any room with his goofy jokes and infectious dance moves. A man of remarkable character, Louis was both boisterous and a great listener, offering sound advice grounded in wisdom and empathy. His warmth and humor touched all who knew him, creating bonds that transcended generations. Louis S. Rappa's life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and service. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. While he will be deeply missed, his legacy of kindness, joy, and integrity will continue to inspire and guide his family and friends for years to come.
