Louis John Soracchi
August 18, 1941 — March 9, 2026
Louis John Soracchi, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on March 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on August 18, 1941, in Willimantic, Connecticut, Louis lived a life rich in love, laughter, and kindness.
The son of the late Louis Joseph Soracchi and Mary Orlandazzi Soracchi, Louis was raised in a home filled with warmth and compassion. He was preceded in death by his cherished sister, Dolores T. Soracchi, but is survived by his devoted sister, Joan Campbell, who, like Louis, always prioritized family above all else.
Louis leaves behind the love of his life, his wife Anne Halloran Soracchi, with whom he shared 62 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a family rooted in love and mutual respect. Louis's legacy lives on through his children, Margaret Morrison and her husband Tyler, and James Soracchi and his wife Sang. He was also the proud grandfather of Annika, Tessa, and Finn Morrison, and Alexander and Ian Soracchi. Each of them carries forward his values of kindness and integrity.
A proud alumnus of Windham High School, class of 1959, Louis continued his education at the University of Connecticut. There, he not only pursued a degree in Business but also showcased his athletic prowess as a defensive end on the freshman football team. His career path led him to the commercial insurance industry, where he dedicated his talents until his retirement from NLC in Norwich, CT in 2007.
Louis's life was a tapestry woven with vibrant threads of friendship, sport, and intellectual curiosity. He cherished the camaraderie of a friendly wager with his dear friend Bob Lester and brother-in-law Tom Halloran, and he remained active in sports, playing recreational basketball well into his 40s, and later enjoying tennis and golf in both Florida and Connecticut. A loyal fan of the UConn Huskies, Louis also found joy in the simple pleasure of reading a good mystery novel or the daily newspaper.
Those who knew Louis remember him for his gentleness and kindness, qualities that endeared him to everyone he met. His life was a testament to the power of kindness and the impact of a life lived with grace.
The Soracchi family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Vitas and the wonderful caregivers Shawnette, Sue, Cali, and Annette, whose compassion and support were invaluable during Louis's final days.
In keeping with his family's wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor Louis's life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Covenant Soup Kitchen in Willimantic, CT, a testament to his enduring spirit of generosity.
Louis John Soracchi will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever illuminate the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire his family and friends, reminding us all of the profound impact one life can have on the world.
