It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Louis H. Burton, who peacefully departed this world on June 30, 2026, at his beloved home in Leesburg, Florida. Born on June 10, 1947, in Millsboro, Delaware, Louis—or Louie, as he was affectionately known always had a joke or kind word for whomever would listen. Louie was predeceased by his mother Frances Burton-Hardcastle, and his dear stepson, Kevin Greer. Louie is survived by his wife, Mattie, of 45 years; stepdaughter Leanne Greer of Lady Lake, FL; daughter Adrian Burton of Orlando, FL. His legacy continues to live on through his 4 grandchildren Chamain Savage of Salisbury, MD; Edgar Greer of Clearwater, FL; Tiana Greer of Leesburg, FL and Amber Malone of Cheltenham, PA, along with a host of great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who were touched by his kindness and generosity. A proud graduate of Wm C. Jason High School in 1966, Louie later enlisted in the US Army in 1968. His commitment and dedication during his military service were evident until his honorable discharge in 1975. Louie's life journey included a great appreciation for the Bible and its message of hope for mankind which led him to dedication and baptism as one of Jehovah's Witnesses into the Seaford, DE congregation in 1985. His career as a truck driver, eventually landed him at the Walt Disney Company in Florida, where he relocated to with his family in Leesburg in 1997. He spent 15 years as a Merchandise Driver and delivery professional, retiring in 2013, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and integrity. Louie was an avid lover of sporting events, fishing, and gardening, passions that he cherished in his earlier years. As time went on, he became more focused on his mission to bring hope and kindness to those around him. His faith became a cornerstone of his life, inspiring him to share Bible truths with his community and offer a helping hand to all in need, earning him the love and respect of all who knew him. A memorial service to celebrate Louie's life will be held on July 18, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at 533 Sunnyside Dr, Leesburg, FL 34748. For those who are unable to attend in-person there will be a livestream via Zoom. In this time of reflection and remembrance, the Burton family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have shared in their grief and offered comfort through messages, phone calls, cards, gifts, and meals. Your kindness and support have been a source of strength and solace. We Sincerely Thank You So Much!
