In Loving Memory

Louis H. Burton
June 10, 1947 — June 30, 2026
It is with profound sadness and sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear Louis H. Burton on June 30, 2026, at his cherished home in Leesburg, Florida. Born on June 10, 1947, in Millsboro, Delaware; Louis (affectionately known by many as Lou or Louie) lived a life marked by kindness, devotion, and service to others.
Louie was the beloved son of Frances Burton Hardcastle, who predeceased him, and he was also preceded in death by his stepson, Kevin Greer. He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Mattie; his loving daughter, Adrian F. Burton of Orlando, Florida; and his cherished stepdaughter, Leanne Greer of Lady Lake, Florida. Louie's legacy also lives on through his four grandchildren Chamain Ballard of Salisbury, MD; Edgar Greer of Clearwater, FL; Tiana Greer of Leesburg, FL and Amber Malone of Cheltenham, PA along with 5 great-grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends who will continue to carry his memory forward.
A proud alumnus of Wm C. Jason High School in Georgetown, DE, class of 1966, Louie later enlisted in the United States Army in 1968. His commitment and dedication were evident until he was honorably discharged in 1975.
After an enlightened study of the Bible and gained appreciation for its promises of hope for mankind Louie dedicated his life to more spiritual matters and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses into the Seaford, DE congregation.
His extensive Truck Driving career eventually led him to the Walt Disney Company in Central Florida, when he and his family re-located to Leesburg, FL in 1997 where he served as a merchandise driver and delivery professional for 15 years, leaving a lasting impression with his colleagues until his well-earned retirement in 2013.
As Louie continued to maintain his spiritual home in Leesburg, where he was known for his warmth and mild manner; his faith became a cornerstone of his life, further guiding him in his interactions and his personal mission to share Bible truths and positivity with others in his community.
Louie was a man of great compassion, always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors whenever possible. His gentle spirit and unwavering kindness were hallmarks of his character, earning him the love and respect of all who knew him.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Louis H. Burton will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, located at 533 Sunnyside Dr., Leesburg, FL 34787. For those unable to attend in person, a livestream will be available through Zoom.

Louie’s memory will forever be a blessing, & his life a testament to the power of love, faith, and community. Though he is no longer with us, Louie faithfully believed in the hope of the resurrection promised at John 5:28,29 where it says "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgement."
In this time of reflection and remembrance, the Burton family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have shared in their grief and offered comfort through words, gifts, and meals. Your kindness and support have been a source of strength and solace. We Thank You So Much!
