Lou was the cherished son of the late Don and Eloise Smith. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jackie Smith, and their dear son, Steve Smith. Lou's legacy of love and kindness is carried on by his surviving family: his devoted daughters, Carol McGee and Brenda Branson, and his son-in-law, Alan Branson. He was a proud grandfather to Richard Wildman and Shawnna Wildman, and a doting great-grandfather to Lantz Wildman and Micah Ray. A man of honor and bravery, Lou served with distinction in the United States Army from 1949 until his retirement in 1960, leaving with honors that reflected his dedication and commitment. His service to his country was a source of pride for him and his family, and he carried the values of duty and integrity throughout his life. Lou was known for his warm heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering support for those he loved.
