Lorraine P. Medrano

Lorraine P. Medrano, a beloved matriarch, and cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully just days before her 98th birthday. Born on August 12, 1928, in Portland, Oregon, Lorraine's life was a testament to love, kindness, and unwavering faith. Lorraine was the daughter of Waverley and Helen Hedspeth and was raised in a family that instilled in her the values she cherished throughout her life. She graduated from Wapato High School in 1946 and soon after embarked on a journey that would touch countless lives. On August 26, 1950, Lorraine married the love of her life, Ralph B. Medrano, at Saint Aloysius Church in Toppenish, Washington. Together, they built a life filled with love and devotion, raising their children: Johnny (Betsy) Medrano, Arthur Medrano, and Deborah (Robert) Padron. Lorraine's family continued to grow, blessing her with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored immensely. Lorraine was a woman of many talents and interests. Known for her vibrant spirit, she loved fishing, camping, hiking, and road trips. Her passion for animals was evident in the way she cared for her farm animals, rode horses, and even saved animals' lives. She found joy in singing, whether it was in the church choir or during her daily activities, and she was an accomplished homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening, and solving crossword puzzles. Her career took her from working in theater in Toppenish to managing the Wonder Bread Thrift Store in Moses Lake, where she became affectionately known as the Hostess Wonder Bread Lady. Lorraine's dedication extended beyond her professional life, as she was actively involved in her community, particularly at Our Lady of Fatima Parish. She dedicated her time to numerous church functions and traveled widely with church staff and priests. Lorraine's life was marked by her generosity, humility, and kindness. She was a beacon of positivity and made everyone feel welcomed and loved. Her faith was unshakeable, and she lived each day with an abundance of love and devotion to her Heavenly Father. Lorraine is predeceased by her parents, stepfather Victor Hooker, brother Phil Peterson, sister Helen Menard Lawrence, her husband Ralph Medrano, sons Ronny Medrano and Daniel Funk, two infant daughters Lilette and Linda, and her granddaughter Aubrey Medrano. Her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren who will carry forward her values and love. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Assured Hospice homecare for their compassionate care and to Vanessa for her devotion and care of her grandmother. A service to celebrate Lorraine's life will be held on August 21, 2026, at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, located at 200 N. Dale Road, Moses Lake, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Lorraine's memory. Lorraine P. Medrano's life was a beautiful tapestry of love, devotion, and service to others. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who were fortunate to know her.
