With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the peaceful passing of Lorraine Brown, who slipped away in her sleep on May 22, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on May 13, 1933, in Wilcox, Pennsylvania, Lorraine lived a life enriched with love, laughter, and an abundance of treasured moments. Lorraine was the beloved daughter of Carl Fredolph and Marion H (Corbran) Hultin. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, William H Brown; her son, Brian W Smith Sr; her granddaughter, Ashley May Saxton; and six brothers, Wallace, Kenneth, Robert, Lawrence, Leonard, and Eugene. She also mourned the loss of her four sisters, Dorothy, Pearl, Eleanor, and one who departed shortly after birth. Even her cherished canine companion, Queenie, is remembered as part of this loving family tapestry. Lorraine is survived by her children, Diane L Speadling of Falconer, NY, Ann L Smith, Nancy L Smith, and Robert J Smith, all of Jamestown, NY. Her legacy lives on through her 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored and held close to her heart. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who fondly remember her as a loving and steadfast presence in their lives. Her career as a custodian at Jamestown Community College was defined by dedication and a strong work ethic, where she left a lasting impact on all those she encountered. Lorraine’s life was filled with passions that brought joy both to herself and to those around her. A true enthusiast of yard sales and flea markets, she was renowned for her keen eye and fierce negotiation skills, always on the hunt for a good deal. Her collection of baby dolls and stuffed animals was a testament to her love for all things cherished and whimsical. Lorraine found joy in the simple pleasure of completing jigsaw puzzles, a testament to her patience and tenacity. Her competitive spirit shone brightly during card games with her sisters, and her love for the casinos was a well-known fact—where she often boasted of her frequent wins, a streak that seemed never-ending even after her sisters' passing. As a matriarch, Lorraine was unparalleled. Her love for her family was fierce and unconditional, a guiding light that illuminated the paths of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her profound faith and optimism were constants in a life lived with integrity and joy. Having just celebrated her 93rd birthday, Lorraine leaves behind a legacy of warmth, resilience, and enduring love. Her life was a vivid tapestry woven with moments of laughter, deep connections, and unwavering strength. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by those who loved her. In accordance with her wishes, a private family service will be held to honor Lorraine’s remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Lorraine’s memory to a charity of your choice, extending her legacy of giving and kindness. May her soul rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so generously shared in life.
