In Loving Memory

Lorna McNeill
January 25, 1970 — September 21, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lorna McNeill, who left this world on September 21, 2026, at the age of 56. Born on January 25, 1970, in Kearny, Nebraska, Lorna was the beloved daughter of the late John and Lois McNeill. She is now reunited with them in peace.
Lorna was a devoted mother to her cherished daughters, Katelyn and Emma McNeill, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her loving brother, Jon McNeill, and his children, Hannah and Connor, who adored their aunt. Her extended family, including cousins Kent and Kerri McNeill and their children Dillion, Ellie, and Kaylie, along with cousin Julie McNeill and her sons Brian and Andrew, will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
A bright mind with a zest for knowledge, Lorna earned her bachelor's degree in Journaling from the University of Missouri. Her career was both dynamic and fulfilling. She began as a journalist at CNN, where her insightful storytelling and dedication to truth-telling left a lasting impact. Later, she transitioned into the legal field, becoming a passionate paralegal. Her commitment to justice and advocacy was unwavering, particularly in her work with the special needs community, which was close to her heart. Combining her entrepreneurial spirit with her love for community, Lorna opened the Independent Grounds Cafe, a welcoming space for all.
Lorna's love for music and concerts was well known, and she was a devoted fan of Harry Styles. Her infectious laughter and humor brightened the lives of those around her, and her selflessness as a single mother was nothing short of inspiring. She sacrificed so much to ensure her daughters had every opportunity to thrive.
While her presence will be deeply missed, Lorna's legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. As we remember Lorna's remarkable life, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to organizations supporting the special needs community, a cause she passionately championed.
May Lorna's soul rest in peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
