Lorna Jean Peterson November 25, 1963 – September 24, 2026 With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Lorna Jean Peterson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who departed this life in her sleep at her home on September 24, 2026. Born in the serene town of Cambridge, Minnesota, Lorna's life was a tapestry of love, resilience, and heartfelt connections. Lorna was the cherished daughter of Earl & Ruth Harrington, and later, Ruth & Ed Mikulski. Her early life in Minnesota was filled with the warmth of family and community. After graduating from Stillwater High School, Lorna embarked on a journey that would touch many lives. In 1983, Lorna married Gary A. Meidlinger near Le Center, Minnesota. Together they were blessed with three beautiful children: Gary, Steven, and Miranda. Although their marriage ended in 1994, Lorna moved forward with grace and courage, relocating to Rosemount, MN, with her children for new beginnings. Fate had more love in store for Lorna when she met Scott J. Peterson, her neighbor across the driveway, and his loyal dog, Taz. Their love story was one of genuine friendship and mutual respect, culminating in their marriage on April 23, 2005. In 2000, they welcomed their son, Taylor, into the world, enriching their family with joy and laughter. Lorna's life was a testament to perseverance and positivity, despite the challenges she faced, including the heartbreaking loss of her infant son, Steven, and her battles with diabetes and renal failure. Her enduring humor and unwavering spirit were sources of inspiration to all who knew her. Lorna's selflessness knew no bounds, and her love was felt deeply by those she held dear. Her passions were as varied as they were joyful. She was an active member of the choir at Christus Victor Lutheran Church, loved participating in softball and bowling leagues, and found solace in the pages of countless books during her visits to the Dakota County library. Lorna's creativity shone through in her quilting club, and her strength was evident in her dialysis group. Family gatherings were her favorite moments, whether spent around a campfire or at a lively corn roast. The joy of playing cards, dominoes, and the infamous game of spoons with loved ones always brought a smile to her face. Her home was filled with music, from the State Fair concerts to karaoke nights with friends, and the sound of Christmas songs, which she adored. Lorna is survived by her devoted husband, Scott Peterson; her children, Gary & Jeannie Meidlinger, Miranda Miller, and Taylor Peterson; and her beloved grandchildren, Claire, Kelsey, and Sadie Meidlinger. She also leaves behind her brothers, Scott, Russell, and Shawn Harrington, and her mother-in-law, Roberta Peterson. Preceding her in death were her parents, Earl Harrington, Ruth & Ed Mikulski, Donald Peterson, and her infant son, Steven Meidlinger. A celebration of Lorna's life will be held on May 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Christus Victor Lutheran Church, located at 7510 Palomino Dr, Apple Valley, MN 55124. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring her extraordinary life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Lorna’s memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting her generous spirit and lifelong dedication to helping others. Lorna's light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were graced by her presence. Her kindness, resilience, and laughter will be remembered and cherished forever.
