November 30, 1950 — May 22, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lorn Dean Casey, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished brother, and esteemed veteran. Dean passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, at the age of 75, surrounded by his beloved family, after a courageous and brief battle with lung cancer. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him, marking the end of an extraordinary life dedicated to service, family, and community. Dean was born on November 30, 1950, in Glendale, California, to Lorn and Alene Casey, who predeceased him. Raised in a nurturing home, Dean grew into a man of honor and integrity, values instilled in him by his loving parents. He was also predeceased by his father-in-law, Lawrence McLean. Dean's journey through life was marked by an unwavering commitment to service. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1972 until his retirement in 2010, dedicating 38 years to defending the freedoms we hold dear. His distinguished military career was a testament to his dedication, honor, and valor. In 1973, Dean married the love of his life, Sheila, on May 26. Their union of 53 years was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they raised three wonderful children: their son Lawrence, son Duane Casey, and daughter Katherin Elizabeth Casey. Dean's family was his greatest pride, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Dean's academic pursuits led him to Marysville High School in Marysville, CA, and later to Sacramento State, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice in 1985. His career was as varied as it was impactful; he served as a federal air marshal, an evidence custodian for the city of Sherwood, Oregon, and as a veterans service officer for the American Legion in Colorado. Dean was an active and dedicated member of several veterans' organizations, including the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he served as past exalted ruler in Sherwood, Oregon. A man of many interests, Dean loved traveling and was always on the lookout for a perfect fishing spot. His love for the great outdoors was only surpassed by his affection for his family. Dean's warmth, humor, and kindness left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know him. Dean is survived by his devoted wife, Sheila, his children Lawrence, Duane, and Katherin, his sisters Sharon Casey and Pamela Casey Hall, and his brothers-in-law Frank Hall, Lawrence McLean, and George McLean. His family, friends, and community will forever remember him as a beacon of love, strength, and wisdom. A service to honor Dean's life will be held on June 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Fort Logan National Cemetery. Family, friends, and those whose lives Dean touched are invited to join in celebrating his remarkable life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Legion or a veterans' organization of your choice in Dean's honor. His spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, reminding us always of the power of service, love, and community. Rest in peace, Dean. You will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
