April 23, 1942 — October 11, 2026

Lorine Sims, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at her home on October 11, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on April 23, 1942, in Muncie, Indiana, Lorine was a beacon of warmth and love to all who knew her. Lorine's journey began in the heartland of Indiana, and she later moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she graduated from Proviso East. It was in Chicago that she met the love of her life, James Sims. The couple shared an incredible 62 years of marriage, a testament to their deep bond and unwavering commitment to one another. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. As a devoted stay-at-home mother and wife, Lorine dedicated her life to nurturing her family. She was the proud mother of four children: daughters Kimberly Sims of Dayton, Ohio, and Sharon (Charles) of Gurnee, Illinois; and sons John and Michael, both residing in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her legacy continues through her 16 grandchildren and an astounding 80 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life. Lorine's family was her world, and her heart swelled with love for each and every one of them. Lorine's home was always filled with the comforting aromas of her cooking, a testament to her passion for creating delicious meals and gathering her loved ones around the table. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she found immense happiness in their laughter and companionship. Her smile, capable of lighting up any room, was a reflection of the warmth and kindness she shared so freely. Predeceased by her husband James, son Charles, and both parents, Lorine's spirit lives on in the hearts of her surviving family, a host of nieces, nephews, and other dear relatives who will forever cherish her memory. In their grief, they find solace in the love she bestowed upon them and the beautiful memories they created together. A private funeral service in her honor will be held on October 17, 2026, at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Lorine's memory to the African American Alzheimer's and Wellness Association, located in Westerville, Ohio. As we bid farewell to a remarkable woman, we hold close the lessons she taught—of love, resilience, and the importance of family. Lorine Sims will be forever in our hearts, a guiding light for generations to come.
