In Loving Memory

Loretta Ryan
August 10, 1957 — May 20, 2026
Loretta was born on August 10, 1957 in Berlin Germany and the world was never the same. A look at photographs in her house showed she was a wild child from the start: Loretta as a toddler next to a lion in the Berlin Zoo, adult Loretta feeding a dolphin by holding a fish in her own mouth, Loretta and James getting married on a Carribean beach as the wind blew through her wild hair... Loretta dedicated her life to the profession of nursing, at times being the only nurse some patients would accept care from (after she yelled at them in German, of course). She also dedicated herself to animals, volunteering with wolves, donating to lion shelters, and having many powerful relationships with animals in her life. She studied Reiki, and performed Reiki for animals and people. Her walls were also covered with photos of her son, Reuben. She would laugh as she told stories of going to wild parties with Reuben when he was young, and she credited herself with setting him up with the love of his life, Stephanie. Loretta loved having a good time, travelling, Ru Paul, sailing, Augie, Japanese donuts, the practice of medicine, big christmas trees, bigger earings, long talks, the beach, dogs, cats, wolves, trips to mexico, but most of all she loved James- in whose arms she may now spend eternity.

Poem / Prayer
You can shed tears that she is gone, Or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back, Or you can open your eyes and see all she's left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see her, Or you can be full of the love you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember her and only that she's gone, Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back, Or you can do what she'd want: Smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
Gone, but not forgotten.
