Born on February 16, 1950, in Huntington, West Virginia, Loretta was a beacon of love and kindness throughout her life. She left this world surrounded by those who cherished her deeply, a testament to the love she both gave and received.
Loretta was the beloved daughter of the late John and Virginia Smith, who instilled in her the values of compassion and empathy, which she carried throughout her life. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Leonard McCoy, with whom she shared 52 wonderful years of marriage, her brothers Ralph and Charla Smith, and her cherished parents. Together, Leonard and Loretta built a life filled with love and adventure, working side by side in their grocery store in Cove Gap before moving to Kenova, where Loretta continued her career at McCoy Freightliner until her retirement.
Loretta was a proud graduate of Wayne High School, where she formed lifelong friendships. Her kind spirit and loving nature left an indelible mark on everyone she met. Known for her warmth and generosity, Loretta's famous phrases, "Oh, I just love you" and "You are so beautiful," were heard often, always leaving those she spoke to feeling cherished and uplifted.
Her memory will be lovingly carried on by her stepdaughters, Teresa Salyers and her husband Gene, and Angela Hicks. Loretta was a devoted grandmother to four grandchildren and a doting great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren.
