October 31, 1936 — June 10, 2026

It is with heavy hearts but profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Loretta Hall, who left us peacefully on June 10, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on October 31, 1936, in the quaint town of Murray City, Ohio, Loretta was a beacon of love, compassion, and generosity throughout her remarkable life. Loretta was the cherished daughter of Ella Lorine Conley and Willard Jennings Lanning, who predeceased her, along with her beloved siblings, Willard Lanning Jr., John Lanning, and Beatrice Hicks. She was reunited in eternal peace with her loving husband, Jackie Hall, and her dear sons, William, Morton, and John Hall. Her legacy lives on through her surviving son, Jackie Hall, and her siblings, Earl and Richard Lanning, along with sisters Janet Moore, Pharinia Harris, Neoma Lanning, and Patricia Ramey. Loretta's family tree flourished with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each a testament to the love she poured into her family and her life's work. Loretta was a woman of enduring faith and service, dedicating much of her time to volunteer work. For many years, she selflessly served veterans through the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) program, driving them to appointments and offering her unwavering support. Her compassionate heart extended to St. Mary’s (Essentia Health) cafeteria in Superior, Wisconsin, where she volunteered, spreading kindness and joy to all she encountered. A proud member of the Elks Club on Belknap in Superior, Wisconsin, Loretta forged lifelong friendships and cherished the camaraderie she found within its walls. She was known far and wide for her exceptional cake-making skills, crafting delectable creations for anyone in need of a sweet celebration. Her hands were never idle, as she lovingly made quilts and mittens, which she generously donated to the homeless, veterans, Head Start programs, the Ruth House, and the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN). Loretta’s love for gardening was evident to all who passed by her home, which was always adorned with the most beautiful flowers. Her garden was a reflection of her soul, bursting with color and life, much like the way she lived her days. Those who knew Loretta will remember her as a woman of incredible generosity and warmth. Her laughter was infectious, and her caring nature touched the lives of everyone she met. Loretta lived her life as a devoted servant of the Lord, embodying his teachings through her actions and her unwavering love for others. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Essentia Hospice and the Solvay House for their compassionate care and support during Loretta's final days. A celebration of Loretta's life will be held on July 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Downs Funeral Home in Superior, Wisconsin. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a truly remarkable woman who leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and selflessness. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to be made in Loretta's memory to organizations she held dear, ensuring that her spirit of giving continues to touch lives. Loretta Hall's life was a testament to the power of love and kindness. While she may have departed from this world, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who were privileged to know her.
