Loretta Ann Herm, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully departed this life on September 4, 2026, at Franciscan Village in Lemont, Illinois. Born on June 22, 1937, in Swanton, Ohio, Loretta was the beloved daughter of Joseph and Rosa Damore, who hailed from Bari, Italy. Loretta's life was a tapestry woven with love, family, and community. She was a devoted mother to her children, Lawrence Herm Jr. and his wife Susan, and Rita Herm Barabasz and her husband Greg. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Ryan and his wife Joanna, Eric and his wife Blair, Zack, and Emily, as well as her five great-grandchildren, Jake, Javi, Ellee, Frannie, and Henry. Loretta cherished every moment spent with her family, taking immense pride and joy in their accomplishments and happiness.
A graduate of Anthony Wayne High School in Whitehouse, Ohio, Loretta went on to build a successful career as an office manager for several companies, including DSI and Inryco. Her professional life was marked by dedication and a strong work ethic, qualities that endeared her to colleagues and friends alike.
Faith played a central role in Loretta's life. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish in Palos Hills, Illinois, where she lent her beautiful voice to the church choir for many years. During her time in Florida, she continued to share her love for music by participating in the choir at Epiphany Cathedral in Venice, Florida.
Loretta had a passion for travel, exploring the wonders of Europe thirteen times and visiting many parts of the United States, including the majestic landscapes of Alaska and the tropical beauty of Hawaii. Her adventurous spirit and love for new experiences were an inspiration to all who knew her.
Known for her warm heart and generous spirit, Loretta delighted in cooking traditional Italian meals, a skill she inherited from her mother. Her kitchen was often filled with laughter, love, and the aroma of delicious dishes, creating lasting memories for her family and friends.
