Lonnie Beatrice Doolittle, who left this world peacefully at her home on September 10, 2026, surrounded by love and faith. Born on February 1, 1940, in Batesville, Mississippi, Lonnie's life was a testament to resilience, love, and unwavering faith. As the daughter of Samuel Doolittle and Sarah Wallace, Lonnie was blessed with a vibrant spirit and an infectious smile that touched everyone she met. She was predeceased by her beloved children Margo, John Ivy, and Sarah Doolittle, and her siblings Sammie Hill Perry, Rose Walls, and Dorothy Dortch, as well as her brother Authur Doolittle. Despite these profound losses, Lonnie's strength and faith never wavered. Lonnie is survived by her devoted children, Barry Doolittle of Carson City, MI, and Samuel Doolittle of Niles, MI. She also leaves behind her loving siblings, Anna "Aunt Sister Baby" Brown of Chicago, IL, Georgia Morrow of Benton Harbor, MI, and Larry Doolittle of Kalamazoo, MI. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her best friend, Debra Lee, all of whom cherished her dearly. A graduate of the Benton Harbor High School’s Adult Education program in 1984, Lonnie's pursuit of knowledge was as steadfast as her commitment to her family. Her career as a housekeeper at a Holiday Inn hotel was marked by dedication and a warm heart, and she used the traits she carried into her service at the Israelite Missionary Baptist Church of Benton Harbor, MI. There, she served faithfully on the usher board, embodying the spirit of hospitality and grace. Lonnie was a gifted communicator, known for her astounding storytelling skills and her contagious laugh. Her passion for sharing stories about her life, her family, and her faith brought joy and wisdom to those around her. Her favorite song, "Walk Around Heaven" by the Mighty Clouds of Joy, was a testament to her enduring faith and hope. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the hospice committee and all who cared for Lonnie during her final days. The family of Lonnie B. Doolittle wishes to extend their deepest thanks to everyone who has offered support and love during this time. May her memory be a blessing, and may her spirit continue to inspire all who knew her.
