Lola Geneva Mckinney

June 6, 1939 — June 26, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of our beloved Lola Geneva Mckinney, who peacefully left this world on June 26, 2026, at the age of 87. Surrounded by the warmth and love of her family, Lola departed this life in the comfort of her home, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and unwavering faith. Lola was born on June 6, 1939, in the small, close-knit community of Coleman, Oklahoma, to Ben and Pauline Dean. She was lovingly raised by her mother and stepfather, Charlie Scaramutz, who instilled in her the values of compassion and humility that she carried throughout her life. Lola was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, her cherished husband Curtis Mckinney, her beloved son Danny Mckinney, and her dear brothers Benny, Walter, Carl, and James Dean. Lola’s life was a testament to her dedication and love for her family. She was a devoted wife to Curtis Mckinney, whom she married on October 2, 1957, in Imperial, California. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, sharing 48 wonderful years of marriage until Curtis's passing in 2005. Lola was a nurturing mother to her sons, Larry and Randy Mckinney, and took immense pride in her grandchildren—Donya Gadley, Kylie Hobbs, Krystle Willard, Larry Mckinney Jr., and Lynsey Mckinney—and her ten great-grandchildren, who brought endless joy to her heart. Lola was the embodiment of selflessness, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her gentle spirit was a beacon of light to all who knew her, and her home was a haven of warmth and welcome. Her sisters, Helen Shelton and Wanda Bird, alongside several nieces and nephews, were constant companions and confidantes, sharing in the joys and challenges of life with her. Her faith was her guiding light, and she was a cherished member of the Mt Sylvan Baptist Church and Lifegate Freewill Baptist community. Lola’s commitment to her church family was unwavering, and her presence brought comfort and joy to those she worshipped alongside. A service celebrating Lola’s remarkable life will be held on July 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Mt Sylvan Baptist Church, located at 13073 TX-110, Tyler, TX 75704. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Mt Sylvan Baptist Church Building Fund@ www.mtsylvanbc.org/giving/ ensuring Lola’s legacy of faith and community continues to thrive. As we gather to honor and remember Lola Geneva Mckinney, we do so with gratitude for the love and joy she shared with us all. Her memory will forever be cherished in our hearts, and her spirit will continue to guide us through the journey of life. Rest in peace, dear Lola, knowing that you were deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
