Lois Mae White

Lois Mae White, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home under hospice care on August 9, 2026. Born on February 10, 1933, in Youngstown, Ohio, Lois was the cherished daughter of George and Daisy Franklin. Lois was predeceased by her loving parents, George and Daisy Franklin, and her devoted husband of 62 years, Leland D. White. She leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, survived by her children, Darrell (Victoria) White and Susan (Gene) Stewart, her sister Dorothy Goodman, and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, who will all deeply miss her gentle presence. A graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Youngstown, Lois furthered her education with a two-year degree from Graceland College. After marrying Leland D. White June 13, 1952, they set up residence in Sabetha, Kansas. Lois took a job teaching in a one room schoolhouse. When Leland was drafted into the army for the Korean war, Lois moved back to Ohio. After the war, they set up their residence in Youngstown Ohio where they raised there 2 children. Lois was also a talented seamstress and dedicated homemaker, known for her exquisite sewing skills. She lovingly crafted clothes for her family, and her knitted creations were cherished gifts. Lois found great joy in making counted cross-stitch pictures and bookmarks, each one a testament to her patience and creativity. Lois was a devoted member and organist of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she touched many lives with her musical talent and warm spirit. Her sweet smile was a beacon of kindness, drawing smiles and greetings from strangers and friends alike. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of the hospice staff for their compassionate care and for making Lois's last days comfortable. Lois Mae White's legacy of love, kindness, and Christianity will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will forever be remembered for the Christ-like way with which she lived her life and the joy she brought to those around her.
