With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Lois Lisko, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who departed this world on June 4, 2026, at the age of 88. Lois passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, a testament to the deep bonds she cultivated throughout her life.
Born on April 2, 1938, in Michigan, Lois was the cherished daughter of Cornelius and Marie Boothe. She was a loving sister to Harold, Betty, Sarah, and Polly, all of whom she now joins in eternal rest. Though her journey began modestly, Lois’s spirit was grand and her heart, generous.
Lois spent her formative years in Charleston, West Virginia, where she graduated from high school. It was there that she was crowned prom queen, a fitting acknowledgment of her vibrant personality and the warmth she extended to everyone she met.
As a young single mother, Lois demonstrated remarkable resilience and compassion, fostering and caring for children with unwavering dedication. Her career as a school bus aide for the Prince George’s County School System spanned 14 years, during which she touched the lives of countless children with her kindness and patience. After retiring 12 years ago, Lois continued to be a guiding light in her community and her family.
Lois’s life was rich with simple joys and passions. She found delight in the hunt for treasures at yard sales and the beauty of her garden, where she nurtured life with the same care she gave her loved ones. Her love for animals was renowned, two of her favorite dogs were Loonie and Freckles. Lois's playful side was evident in her collection of Mickey and Minnie Mouse memorabilia, a nod to her enduring sense of wonder and joy.
Above all, Lois was a devoted mother to her three sons, Ricky (Lisa), Charlie (Kathy), and David (Pat), raising them to become hardworking, loving, and thoughtful men. Her legacy extends to her cherished grandchildren, Ashley, Charlie, Lauren, and Allison, and her treasured great-grandchildren, Taylor, Mason, Hudson, Sophia, Savanna, Charlee, and Aspen, who will carry forward her spirit of love and generosity.
Lois’s life was a testament to the power of kindness and the impact of a life lived in service to others. She was always willing to extend a hand, lend an ear, or offer her heart to friends and family alike. Her memory will forever be a blessing to those who knew her.
In Lois’s honor, the family requests that donations be made to the Hospice of Chesapeake, whose staff provided exceptional care and compassion in her final days. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the hospice team and to Lois's close friends who stood by her side, offering comfort and joy when it was needed most.
A celebration of Lois's life will be held at a later date, where stories will be shared, laughter will be encouraged, and her life will be celebrated in the manner she so richly deserves. Until then, let us remember Lois Lisko for the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the legacy she leaves behind.
