Lloyd William Nation

Lloyd William Nation, 94 of McAllen, Texas entered into rest on Monday August 24, 2026, at the Alfredo Gonzalez Veterans Home. Lloyd was born May 31, 1932, in Crawford, Nebraska, to William and Elva (Wilson) Nation. He graduated from Sioux County High School in 1950. After graduation, Lloyd enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served on the USS Princeton aircraft carrier. In 1954, he completed his military service and was honorably discharged from the navy.
In 1958, Lloyd graduated from the Spartan School of Aeronautics, where he obtained a pilot's license and certification in airline mechanics. From 1958-1960, he worked as an airline mechanic at the airport in Cheyenne, Wyoming. In 1960, he began his next adventure as a bus driver for Greyhound. In 1988, Lloyd retired from Greyhound early and spent an additional two years driving truck for Werner Enterpreises as an over- the- road truck driver. From 1990-1997, he lived on the family farm in Sioux County, Nebraska, where he farmed and ranched. In 1997, Lloyd moved to Gering, Nebraska and worked as a knife sharpener for the Western Sugar Cooperative until 2008.
Lloyd married Mary Jane Flynn in November 1955. Lloyd and Jane were married for 54 years before Jane's death in 2009. In 2010, Lloyd married the second love of his life, Arlene Hebb. After their marriage, Lloyd and Arlene moved to Arkansas and later to Texas, where they developed a supportive and caring community of family and friends.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter Ann Colleen; infant grandson, Matthew Nation; brothers Robert and Raymond Nation; and several in-laws.
He is survived by his son, Michael (Paula) Nation of Cheyenne, WY, and their children, Jason and Joe Nation; his daughter, Jill Eich of Frederick, CO, and her children, Amber (Bill) Herring, Amy Eich, and Ashley Eich; and his son, Daniel (Melinda) Nation of Ellendale, ND, and their children, Ashli (Brandon) Rall, Christopher (Kaitlin) Nation, Aaron Nation, and Connor Nation. Great-grandchildren include Madison & Christopher Herring, Sierra Eich, Emma & Beau Rall, Aiden & Carter Nation, and Aurora Nation.
Lloyd enjoyed boating, fishing, family road trips and reading Zane Grey books-his favorite being Riders of the Purple Sage, which he read multiple times. Lloyd professed to serve God at York Convention in 2003 at the age of 71. His deep faith takes the sting out of his death. Lloyd was faithful until the end.
Lloyd's Texas funeral service will be held at the Brook Ridge Retirement Community in Pharr, Texas, on October 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. He considered the employees and administration at Brook Ridge Retirement Community his second family. They were his friends, technical support, and constant caregivers for the last seven years.
