Lloyd Frederick Allen

In loving memory of Lloyd Frederick Allen, who peacefully departed this world on September 25, 2026, at Mercy One, surrounded by the family he cherished so dearly. Born at home in Rhodes, Iowa, on September 8, 1937, Lloyd was a beacon of strength, love, and dedication to all who knew him. Lloyd was the beloved son of Fred Allen and Grace (Kroener), and he was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Roger, Richard, Wallace, and William, who was stillborn. He was also predeceased by his grandparents, Souvern William and Mary Ann Allen, and George and Elizabeth Kroener. In the tapestry of his family, Lloyd was a thread that bound generations together. On September 5, 1959, Lloyd married the love of his life, Judy Cox. Their enduring partnership was a testament to love and resilience, a bond that was admired by all who knew them. Together, they built a beautiful family, sharing their lives with their daughters: Debra Horton of Marshalltown, Dinah (John) Niccum of Charles City, and Denise Martelli of Pleasant Hill. Lloyd's legacy continues through his nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, who will forever carry his spirit in their hearts. A dedicated and hardworking man, Lloyd spent 32 years working at Lennox before he embraced a well-deserved retirement. His commitment and work ethic left a lasting impression on his colleagues and friends. Outside of his professional life, Lloyd found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed golfing with his brother Richard, a pastime that brought them closer together and echoed with laughter and friendly competition. His garden was another sanctuary, where he nurtured life with the same care and patience he showed his family and friends. As we bid farewell to a remarkable man, we remember Lloyd Frederick Allen not just for the life he lived but for the love he gave. His presence will be profoundly missed, yet his legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those who knew him.
