March 11, 2026 — March 25, 2026
It is with deep sorrow and profound respect that we announce the passing of Lloyd Collins, a cherished soul who brought light and joy into the lives of all who knew him. Lloyd departed this world peacefully in his sleep on March 25, 2026, at the Bradford House in Bentonville, Arkansas, just 14 days after celebrating his 100th birthday.
Born on March 11, 1926, in Festus, Missouri, Lloyd was the beloved son of DO and Katherine (Towne) Collins. He was predeceased by his loving parents and his brother, Dean Collins, with whom he shared a bond that transcended life itself.
Lloyd's journey through life was marked by a deep passion for music and education. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in music from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL, a testament to his lifelong dedication to the arts. His commitment to service was further exemplified during his time in the United States Army, where he proudly served from 1967 to 1969 as a member of the 399th Army Band.
Following his military service, Lloyd dedicated his life to nurturing young minds as a music teacher in Sesser, IL, Johnston City, IL, and Waynesville, MO. His love for music and education left an indelible mark on countless students who were fortunate to learn under his guidance.
In 1980, Lloyd embarked on a new chapter of his career when he was hired by Sam Walton as a merchandise planner for the pioneering HyperMarts that eventually evolved into the iconic Walmart Supercenters. His visionary work designing "Stores of the Future" for Rich Donkers was instrumental in shaping the retail landscape. After retiring from Walmart in 2000, Lloyd continued to contribute his talents to Harps in Bentonville, AR.
Lloyd's life was one of service, both in his professional endeavors and his personal commitments. A devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church, he sang in the choir, served as an elder, and established a food pantry ministry that fed both bodies and spirits. Later, at the First Christian Church in Bentonville, he continued to share his musical gifts and served faithfully on the board.
Beyond his professional and spiritual pursuits, Lloyd was a masterful woodworker, crafting beautiful pieces that found homes as far away as France and several South American countries. His creations were not just objects; they were expressions of his love and artistry, touching lives across continents.
Lloyd’s warmth, loyalty, and dedication shone through in everything he did. He was a loyal and dedicated employee who truly loved his work and the people he worked with. His legacy of kindness and creativity will continue to inspire those who knew him.
In accordance with Lloyd’s wishes, donations in his memory may be made to Circle of Life and Clothed with Compassion, organizations close to his heart.
The Collins family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Bradford House, Shiloh Care Facility, Greenhouse Cottage, Mercy Hospital, and all the doctors, nurses, and staff who provided exceptional care and support during his final days.
Lloyd Collins leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, music, service, and artistry. Though he has departed from this earthly realm, his spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those he touched. May his soul find peace in the eternal symphony of life.
