Lisa Nelson, a beloved member of her community and cherished by family and friends, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026. Born on June 26, 1963, at Walker Air Force Base in Roswell, New Mexico, Lisa was the daughter of Master Sergeant James and Lois Catchings. Her life was a testament to her deep love for family, her unyielding spirit, and her compassionate nature.
Growing up in a military family instilled in Lisa a sense of resilience and adaptability, traits she carried throughout her life. She navigated life's challenges with grace and met every opportunity with enthusiasm and kindness. Lisa was a beacon of warmth and strength to all who knew her.
Lisa is predeceased by her loving parents, Master Sergeant James and Lois Catchings, and her dear sweet niece Lucy Clifton. Her legacy continues through her devoted partner, Kent and his mother Fran along with brother Ephren, who shared a life filled with love and laughter.
Lisa was a proud and loving mother to her children: James and Anna Nelson of Central City, AR; Devon and Amanda Nelson of Red Oak, OK; Cydnie Nelson of Red Oak, OK; and Sara Nelson of Red Oak, OK. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support were constants in their lives.
Her legacy extends to her grandchildren: Gabby, Savanna, Elizabeth, Adin, Haley, Taylor, Brinnley, Jax, Xaden, Wyatt, Emerald, and Aylee, who brought immense joy and pride to her heart. Lisa had three great-grandchildren Remington, Brantley, and Emberlynn who will carry forward the love and wisdom she imparted.
Lisa is also survived by her nephew, Jeremy Ty Cantrell, and her sister Janet Watkins and spouse Johnny, who was her lifelong confidante and friend. Lisa’s family was the center of her world, and her love for them knew no bounds.
Lisa Nelson will be remembered as a loving partner, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, laughter, and cherished memories. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and resilience that will forever inspire those who were fortunate to know her.
Celebration of Life will be held at the Grays Prairie Community Center on September 20, 2026 from 12:00pm to 4:00pm
