In Loving Memory

Lisa Gilbert
June 29, 1969 — September 18, 2026
Lisa Gilbert, age 57, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully surrounded by love. Born and raised in Milwaukee, Lisa was a beautiful soul whose presence could be felt by everyone blessed to know her.
Lisa was a loving, generous, and deeply caring woman. She was known for her strong spirit, her willingness to help others, and her ability to love her family fiercely. Lisa was never afraid to speak her mind—she truly did not take any mess—but beneath that strength was a heart full of love and a genuine desire to see the people around her succeed.
Her faith in the most high was one of the most important parts of her life. Lisa believed deeply in God and His higher power, and she wanted the people she loved to know Him as well. She encouraged her family to have faith, to believe, and to understand that there was something greater than themselves. Lisa was a devoted wife to her husband, Norman, and a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
Although she did not have children of her own, she poured love into the nieces and nephews who held special places in her heart. Lisa had her own individual relationship with each of them. She knew them, supported them, challenged them, fussed at them, encouraged them, and loved them in her own special way.
To her nieces and nephews, Auntie Lisa was more than an aunt. She was someone who wanted the best for them. She worked hard and expected the people she loved to work hard too. Her strong words and high expectations came from a place of love. She wanted the younger generations of her family to become better, dream bigger, and have opportunities that she and her siblings did not always have.
Lisa's legacy will live on through the love she gave, the lessons she taught, the faith she shared, and the memories she created with the people who knew her. Her spirit, her strength, her humor, her honesty, and her unwavering love for her family will never be forgotten.
Lisa was preceded in death by her father, King Solomon Spinks; her siblings, Steve Spinks, Shirley Jackson, John Spinks, and Constance Spinks; her neice Niesha Spinks; and her nephews Jamal and Keshawn Spinks.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Norman Thone; her mother, Zetta Mae Spinks; her siblings, Annette Blurton, Curtis Spinks, Elaine Spinks, and Mario Spinks; and her many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved her dearly.
Though her time with us was not long enough, the love Lisa gave was more than enough to last a lifetime.
Rest peacefully, Lisa. Your love, your faith, your strength, and your spirit will live on in all of us.
