Lindy passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, at the age of 70, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Born on January 6, 1956, in the warm embrace of Alachua, Florida, Lindy was the devoted daughter of the late Alma Simmons. She was also predeceased by her dear brother, Jim Simmons Sr., whose memories she cherished deeply. Lindy's life was a testament to resilience and love, qualities she inherited from her mother and shared generously with those around her.
Lindy's journey was graced with the companionship of her longtime partner, Richard Barthel Sr., whose love and support were constants in her life. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family, raising three children: Robert Fletcher Jr., Chrisse Williams (Arlanders), and Tyeisha Fletcher. Her legacy continues through the lives of her eleven grandchildren—Roshonda Fletcher, Robert Fletcher Jr., Ronisha Fletcher, Shayla Dowes, Michael Fletcher, Ke’Ziah Fletcher, Arnesia Fletcher, Arlexus Gordon, and Arlandryia Alford (Juvens Rejouis)—and her seventeen great-grandchildren, who were the joy of her twilight years.
Lindy found fulfillment in her long-standing career at Whispering Oaks, where she dedicated 26 years of service before retiring. She was a selfless, God-fearing woman, whose life was a testament to the power of faith and hard work. Lindy taught her loved ones that perseverance and dedication, especially when rooted in faith, are the keys to a fulfilling life.
Her warmth, wisdom, and strength were the pillars of her family, and she poured love into every moment spent with them. Her teachings and values will continue to guide her family, a lasting tribute to the remarkable woman she was.
A celebration of Lindy's life will be held on July 9, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Aikens Funeral Home, located at 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the staff at Aikens Funeral Home for their compassionate assistance and support during this difficult time.
As we gather to honor Lindy’s memory, we find solace in knowing that her spirit will continue to guide us. Her legacy of love, strength, and faith will forever be etched in our hearts, reminding us to always keep GOD first and embrace each day with gratitude and grace.
