September 15, 1946 — February 18, 2024

It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of our beloved Linda Young, who departed this world on February 18, 2024, at the age of 77. Linda passed away peacefully, cradled in love and surrounded by family at the Cumberland House in Crossville, Tennessee. Born on September 15, 1946, in the charming town of Sparta, Tennessee, Linda was the cherished daughter of Arnold and Bessie Brown. She was predeceased by her parents, as well as her dear sister, Louise May. Linda's family was the cornerstone of her life, and her legacy of love continues through her devoted son, Lanny Selby, and his wife, Melissa Selby. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Zelma Steward and Martha Scott, her brother, Tommy Brown, and her special friend, Bannetta Spakes. Linda was the proud grandmother of one grandchild, whom she adored. Linda's industrious spirit shone through from a young age when she began working at the Sparta Shirt Factory. Her diligence and dedication carried her to a fulfilling 33-year career in the dryer department at Mallory Timers. Her colleagues remember her as a steadfast presence, always ready with a kind word and a helping hand. For over 40 years, Linda was a devoted member of the Black Oak Church of God, where she found community and faith. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, and her generosity of spirit was evident in her every action. Linda was a woman who saw the good in everyone, a truly giving soul who enriched the lives of all who knew her. Linda had a passion for collecting Blue Ridge dishes, and she could often be found at local estate auctions on Saturdays, eagerly searching for new patterns to add to her cherished collection. Her joy in these small treasures reflected her appreciation for beauty and history. Linda also delighted in sending cards to everyone she knew, each note a testament to her caring nature and the personal connections she valued so deeply. A service in honor of Linda’s life will be held on February 21, 2024, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, located at 1786 Smithville Hwy, Sparta, Tennessee. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who touched so many hearts. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to caregiver Jennifer Phelepe, as well as the compassionate staff at Uplands Village and the Hospice House in Crossville, Tennessee, for their kind and devoted care. Linda Young's life was a tapestry of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, and her memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the warmth of eternal love.
