Linda Sue O’Malley, a cherished wife, devoted mother, beloved grandmother, and inspirational educator, peacefully passed away on April 11, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on November 27, 1947, to J.V. and Alice Grigsby, Linda graced the world with a spirit as vibrant and nurturing as the autumn leaves of her favorite holiday, Thanksgiving.
A proud graduate of South Garland High School, Linda pursued her passion for teaching at Texas A&M University Commerce, where she earned her teaching degree. Her calling led her to specialize as a special education teacher, a role in which she thrived for over 40 years. Certified by Scottish Rite, Linda dedicated her career to helping countless students learn to read and write, transforming lives with her compassion and innovative teaching methods. Her remarkable contributions were acknowledged by Allen ISD, where she was recognized for her more than two decades of dedicated service.
Linda's love for learning was matched only by her love for life. Her days were filled with the melodies of James Taylor, George Strait, and Michael Bublé, and the warmth of a good western movie. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether shopping for a new outfit, savoring an ice cream cone from Braum's, or enjoying a refreshing unsweet tea paired with a Heath bar or York patty. Her heart was happiest in the company of her granddaughter Kaitlyn, with whom she shared countless cherished moments.
A woman of profound kindness and generosity, Linda's life was a testament to the power of love and friendship. Her bonds with friends, some of which spanned from her school days, were nurtured through countless phone conversations and shared laughter. Her dedication to bringing happiness to those around her was evident in every facet of her life.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Joseph O’Malley, her son Drew Lewis, her daughter Treva Lewis, her brother John A. Grigsby, and her daughter-in-law Andrea Lewis. She also leaves behind her treasured granddaughters, Kaitlyn Gonzales, Baylee Massey, and Paige Massey, along with many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will continue to carry her legacy of love and learning.
She was predeceased by her parents, J.V. and Alice Grigsby, her grandson J.T. Massey, and her son-in-law Topper Massey. Though their absence is felt deeply, the memories of their shared lives bring comfort to those who remain.
A service to celebrate Linda's life will be held on April 17, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home, located at 1600 S Garland Ave, Garland, Texas, 75040.
