Linda Rooker, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on April 19, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, Linda was the cherished daughter of Nate and Gertrude Jacobs. She was preceded in death by her brother, Tony Jacobs. Linda's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and accomplishment. She is survived by her devoted husband, Paul, with whom she shared a beautiful journey. Their story began in their high school years at New Trier Township High School, where they graduated in 1956. Life took them on separate paths until they joyfully reunited and married in 2002. Linda was a proud and loving mother to her sons, Drake and Geoffrey, and a supportive mother-in-law to Gwen and Evelyn. She was a doting grandmother to four grandchildren and embraced Paul's children and grandchildren as her own, creating a blended family filled with love and laughter. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and many close friends. Professionally, Linda made significant strides in the human resources field. She held various positions throughout her career, with her most notable role being the Human Resources Director for Rainsoft Enterprises in Elmhurst, Illinois. Linda's expertise in benefits, payroll, and personnel management was widely respected, and she was known for her dedication and professionalism. Linda was an active member of the newcomers' club in both Park Ridge, Illinois, and Scottsdale, Arizona, where she made lasting friendships. Her passion for bridge was well-known; she played at an expert level and found great joy in the game, though she carefully avoided playing with her spouse. She liked to entertain and welcomed any opportunity to have dinner at any one of several local restaurants. Linda's warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. Her ready smile, welcoming hugs, and gentle words of encouragement were her trademarks, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. A celebration of Linda's life will be held on October 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Pinnacle Presbyterian Church Chapel in Scottsdale, Arizona. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Phoenix Children's Hospital Foundation in Phoenix, AZ, a cause close to Linda's heart. Linda will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her life was a testament to love, kindness, and resilience, and her memory will be cherished forever.
