Linda McClentic, a cherished soul who filled the lives of many with her beautiful music and gentle spirit, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, at the Hospice of the Valley in Surprise, Arizona. Born on October 2, 1947, in Springfield, Missouri, Linda was the beloved daughter of Betty Marie (Carter) Wheat and Richard David Wheat. Her life was a testament to the power of music, love, and faith.
Linda graduated from Norwood High School in Norwood, Massachusetts, a town where she discovered her passion for music. This passion led her to the Boston Conservatory of Music, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Music in 1972. Her talent and dedication to her craft were evident in every note she played as a church organist and pianist, roles she cherished deeply. Linda also lent her musical abilities as a cellist in various orchestras, enchanting audiences with her exceptional skill and the warmth of her performances.
In 1995, Linda married the love of her life, Roger H. McClentic. Their union was one of deep affection and mutual support, and together they created a life filled with joyful moments and shared dreams. Though Roger passed before her, Linda spoke often of their adventures and the unwavering love they shared.
Linda is survived by her brother, Bruce Wheat, and sister-in-law, Jeanne Davis, who held a special place in her heart. Her niece, Savita Wheat, and nephew, Cory Wheat, were lights in her life, as were her extended family and cousins spread across Missouri, Washington, and Texas. Linda’s family was a source of great joy for her, and she cherished every gathering and celebration they shared.
She was predeceased by her dear husband, Roger, who she spoke of with great fondness and love until her last days.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Linda's life will be held on June 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran Church, located at 11025 N 111th Ave, Sun City, AZ 85351. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the same church, where Linda spent many years sharing her musical talents and enriching the lives of others.
Linda McClentic's legacy is one of grace, kindness, and an unyielding dedication to the arts. Her music will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to experience it, and her spirit will live on in the memories she created with all who knew her. May she rest in peace, embraced by the harmony she so beautifully brought into the world.
