Linda M. Gnaidek Ohms, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on August 1, 1947, in South Chicago, Illinois, Linda was the cherished daughter of Frederick Gniadek and Edna Webber. Her journey through life was marked by warmth, love, and an unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Linda was predeceased by her devoted husband, Galen J. Ohms Sr., her parents, her sister Kathy Rzepa, and her dear son Galen J. Ohms Jr. She is survived by her beloved sisters, Anna Novak and Mary Ann Rzepa; her loving children, Dawn Ohms, Paul (Wendy) Ohms, Michelle (Jeff) Schneider, Shaun Ohms, and daughter-in-law Cindy XX. Linda's legacy continues through her grandchildren, Steven (Debbie) Schneider, Jeffery (Keendrea) Schneider, Tylor (Espie) Schneider, Shaun-Michael Ohms, Kyle Sims, and Lydia (David) Rudolph, as well as her 11 treasured great-grandchildren.
Linda shared a beautiful life with her husband, Galen, whom she married in Toledo, OH. Together, they raised their five children over XX wonderful years, creating a home filled with laughter and love.
A proud graduate of XX High School and XX College, Linda applied her education to a fulfilling career. She served as a dedicated bus driver and later retired from MMRD. Her commitment to helping others continued as she took on the role of a nutrition worker for Washington Local Schools, where she made a lasting impact on countless lives.
Linda's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was an active member of Saint Clement's Church in Toledo, OH, and continued her spiritual journey with Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. Her community involvement was a testament to her compassionate spirit and steadfast belief in serving others.
Beyond her professional and community endeavors, Linda found immense joy in her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love for the Chicago Bears was well-known, and she never missed an opportunity to cheer for her team. The Buckingham Fountain in Chicago held sentimental value for Linda, reminding her of her roots and the city she loved. Her appreciation for nature was evident in her fondness for roses, hummingbirds, and cardinals, which brought her peace and happiness.
Linda's cooking, especially her homemade stuffing at Thanksgiving, was legendary among family and friends. She treasured every moment spent with loved ones, creating cherished memories around the dinner table.
Those who knew Linda remember her for her contagious smile that could light up any room. Her kindness and generosity left a lasting imprint on everyone she met. She was always ready with a piece of candy for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and never forgot to bring a treat for her grand puppies.
A celebration of Linda's life will be held on July 7, 2026, at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, located at 6149 Hill Avenue, Toledo, OH, 43615. The service will begin at 11:30, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember the remarkable life she led.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Linda's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting her spirit of giving and love for others.
