Linda, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, was born on March 13, 1938, in Pekin, Illinois, the beloved daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rakestraw.
Linda's journey through life was marked by her unwavering compassion and dedication to others, a testament to her nurturing spirit. She pursued a career in nursing, earning her Registered Nurse degree from a local hospital. Her career was defined by her commitment to caring for those in need, offering comfort and healing with a gentle heart and skilled hands.
On March 19, 1960, Linda married the love of her life, Ralph E. Brooks, with whom she shared a beautiful partnership until his passing. Together, they built a family grounded in love and respect, raising three wonderful children: daughters Karen Simpkins and Diana Rose, and son Mark Brooks. Linda's legacy is further enriched by her seven grandchildren, Emily Ziegler, Savannah Roman, and Hannah Simpkins among them, and her ten great-grandchildren, each of whom carries forward her spirit and kindness.
Linda was predeceased by her parents, her devoted husband Ralph, three brothers, and one sister. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is reunited with them in eternal peace.
Beyond her professional life, Linda was a vibrant part of her community. She dedicated her time to volunteer work, offering blood pressure screenings and serving with devotion in her church, where she was an active member of the Altar Guild and Choir. Linda's contributions extended to the Sun City Poms, where her lively spirit was a source of joy and inspiration to many.
