Linda Lee Thomson Williams
January 11, 1947 – July 6, 2026
With profound sadness and deep love, we announce the passing of Linda Lee Thomson Williams, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, and cherished community member. Linda departed this world peacefully at her home on July 6, 2026, after bravely facing illness with grace and tenacity for several months. She was surrounded by the warmth of her family, a testament to the love she so generously gave throughout her life.
Linda was born on January 11, 1947, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Mr. and Mrs. Barham Foster Thomson, Jr. She was predeceased by her devoted parents, Dell and Barham Thomson, and her brother, Barham Foster Thomson III. Despite the loss of her beloved family members, Linda's spirit remained unyielding and resilient.
Linda's life was blessed with a remarkable love story that began in 1968 when she met her soulmate, Lorin F. Williams. Their enduring marriage was a beacon of love and partnership, and together they built a loving family. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Lorin F. Williams, who was her steadfast companion and best friend.
Linda is also survived by her children, who were the pride and joy of her life: her son Lorin F. Williams, Jr. of Landrum; her daughters, Johanna Lee Williams Crum and her husband Josh, and Laura Rebecca Williams Turner. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren—Savannah Williams Blackwell and her husband Jesse, Landon Cole Williams, Kaedyn Turner, Coltyn Turner, Wyatt William Crum, and Bergen “Bear” Reed Crum—and great-grandchildren, Tinley Rae Blackwell and Waylon __ Blackwell.
A proud graduate of Andrew Jackson High School, class of 1965, Linda furthered her education at Florida Southern University, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1969. Her passion for teaching and nurturing young minds led her to become an exceptional elementary school teacher at Campobello E. After taking time off to raise her children, Linda returned to her calling in education, working within the Greenville County Schools. While at the Dunbar Child Development Center, she made an indelible impact, developing programs for teen mothers and becoming a guiding force and "mother" to many.
Linda was a dedicated member of the Landrum Methodist Church and a committed leader in the PTA at her children's schools. Her devotion to education further extended to her multiple terms on the Spartanburg District 1 School Board, where her influence was felt across the community.
Known for her gentle spirit, quick smile, and unwavering determination, Linda was a beacon of kindness and creativity. Her talents were many, from being a seamstress and basket weaver to a fabulous cook and a director of pageants. Her presence was a constant source of warmth and inspiration to all who knew her.
Linda's life was marked by her commitment to community and family, a legacy that will be forever cherished by those who had the privilege to know her. She leaves behind a community that is richer for having known her and a family that will carry her love and teachings forward.
