She was predeceased by her beloved siblings, Shirley Ann Lumpkin, DeArcie Lumpkin, Barbara Michelle Lumpkin, Carolyn Louise Young, and Ervin Lumpkin. Despite the loss of her siblings, Linda's spirit remained resilient and her love for family endured.
She is survived by her devoted son, Alton Burton Jr., who was her pride and joy. Linda's legacy of love also lives on in her cherished nieces and nephews: Danielle Threats, Deshonda Goodlow, Deana Hughes, D'Anthony Threats, Darian Threats, and Ava Pickerson. Though she leaves behind no grandchildren or great-grandchildren, her familial bonds extended far beyond bloodlines, encompassing a community of individuals who considered her a guiding light.
Linda's pursuit of knowledge led her to Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee, where she earned a degree in Education. She furthered her studies by obtaining a Master's degree from Mary Grove College in Detroit, a testament to her commitment to learning and growth. Her academic achievements paved the way for a fulfilling career with the Detroit Public School system, where she dedicated over two decades to nurturing young minds. Even after her retirement, Linda continued to impart her wisdom and compassion by tutoring the underprivileged at homeless shelters across Metro Detroit, a true testament to her selflessness and dedication.
Beyond her professional life, Linda was a woman of many passions. Her love for bringing people together was evident in the gatherings she hosted, where food, music, and laughter were always in abundance. She had a zest for life that was infectious, transforming any room she entered with her vibrant energy. A natural storyteller, Linda had a remarkable ability to recall memories and share them with vivid detail, ensuring that the past was never forgotten.
