It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Joyce Bolton Taylor-Cochrane, who departed this world on April 9, 2026, at her cherished home, following a courageous 16-month battle with cancer. Born on March 13, 1961, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, Linda's journey through life touched the hearts of many and left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Linda is the beloved daughter of John and Roxie McGee and the cherished sister of Michelle and brothers Jerry and Lonnie. Her father, John McGee, along with her brothers John McGee Jr. and Lucchi McGee, and her dear uncle Nas Bolton, predeceased her, leaving an enduring legacy of family love and togetherness. Linda is survived by her devoted husband of over 20 years, Steven Victor Cochrane, and their adored daughter, Journi, who was the light of Linda's life and her proudest achievement. Her mother, Roxie, and sister, Michelle, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends, remain to celebrate Linda's life and continue her legacy.
Linda's academic journey began in the public schools of Gulfport, Mississippi, and she later graduated with a bachelor's degree in business from Mississippi State University, enriching her education with a transformative term in London, England. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to the University of Southern Mississippi, where she earned a master's degree in finance. Her professional career saw her excel as an automotive finance manager across several California dealerships before co-founding the successful Taylor-Braun automotive finance training program. After its sale, Linda brought her expertise to Sonic Automotive and Finance Concepts, where her leadership and vision were invaluable.
A vibrant member of the Jack and Jill of America, Oakland Bay Area Chapter, Linda's commitment to youth life enrichment was admired by many. Her faith and community involvement were central to her life, reflected in her membership at Corpus Christi Church in Piedmont, California. Linda's compassion extended to Elizabeth House, where she was a passionate supporter, dedicating her efforts to women in need.
Linda married the love of her life, Steven, on October 9, 2005, amidst the breathtaking beauty of Yosemite National Park. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, filled with shared dreams and cherished memories. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, love, and warmth, nurturing their daughter and strengthening the bonds of family and friendship.
