Linda Jean Smith Katwijk

December 10, 1957 — May 10, 2026

In loving memory of Linda Jean Smith Katwijk, who passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, at the age of 68. Linda was born on December 10, 1957, in the charming town of Provo, Utah, to her devoted parents, Starley and Irving Degraw Smith. Her journey through life was marked by unwavering love and dedication to her family, faith, and community. Linda's early years were spent in Provo, where she was nurtured by her loving family, including her siblings Scott, DeAnn, and David. The family later moved to Corvallis, Oregon, where Linda graduated from Crescent Valley High School in 1976. She continued her education at Ricks College, shaping her bright future with knowledge and grace. On a crisp winter day, February 11, 1978, Linda married the love of her life, Kim Katwijk, in Corvallis. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, and together they created a beautiful family filled with warmth and laughter. Linda and Kim were blessed with nine children: Shari, Sheena, Lance, Jason, Tannan, Brandon, Rahzjon, Anali, and Mikaden. Each child, along with their spouses, brought immense joy to Linda's life, and she cherished every moment shared with them. Linda's nurturing spirit extended to her eleven grandchildren, Lincoln, Giovanni, Avrom, Persephone, Timpani, Aedelin, Emmaline, Braxton, Harley, India, and Mila. She embraced her role as a grandmother with open arms, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts with her wisdom, kindness, and boundless affection. Preceded in death by her infant daughter, Mary Abigail, Linda's faith provided comfort and strength throughout her life. Her legacy of love and devotion continues to inspire all who knew her. Linda's life was enriched by her connection to family and faith, as evidenced by her active participation in the LDS Church, where she found a sense of purpose and community. Her compassion and generosity touched countless lives, leaving a legacy of love that will endure for generations. In addition to her immediate family, Linda is survived by her beloved parents, Starley and Irving "De," her siblings and their spouses, and 34 nieces and nephews who all adored their Aunt Linda. Her presence will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved. A service to honor Linda's life will be held on May 26, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the LDS Church located at 18501 Paulson St SW, Rochester, WA 98579. Family and friends are warmly invited to celebrate Linda's life and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Linda's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting her lifelong commitment to kindness and giving. Linda Jean Smith Katwijk will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and a beacon of light for all who knew her. May her soul find peace, and may her family find solace in the love she shared so generously.
