It is with profound sadness and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of Linda Diane Wilkes-Longmire, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her. Linda left this world on April 16, 2026, at the age of 68, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion.
Born on May 12, 1957, in the vibrant city of Mobile, Alabama, Linda was the cherished daughter of Sam and Pearl Wilkes. From an early age, Linda was known for her quick wit and warm smile, traits that endeared her to everyone she met. Her gift for making people feel welcome and valued was unmatched, and her presence would light up any room.
Linda was a beacon of kindness and generosity. She had an uncanny ability to find humor in life's challenges, always ready with a joke to lighten the mood and bring a smile to those in her company. Her kindness touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
Linda was predeceased by her loving parents, Sam and Pearl Wilkes, her dear siblings, Betty Jean Wright, Tony Burnes, Bill Burnes, Judy Foster, Martha (William) Batie, and Sarah (Robert) Batie, as well as her beloved spouse, Dewitt Longmire, with whom she shared 29 wonderful years of marriage. Together, Linda and Dewitt built a life filled with love and laughter, creating a home that was a haven of warmth and joy.
Linda's legacy lives on through her cherished children, Jerica Longmire, Latisha, and Latasha Wilkes, who carry forward her spirit of love and humor. She was also a devoted grandmother to five grandchildren, Tylon, Daniel, Kiera, Omarion, and Dynashia, who brought immense joy to her life.
She is survived by her loving siblings, Beverly Steele and John Burns, who will forever cherish the memories of their dear sister. Linda's family, both immediate and extended, was the center of her world, and her love for them knew no bounds.
The family invites all whose lives were touched by Linda to join them in a celebration of her life on May 2, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Services will be held at Small’s Mortuary, located at 950 S Broad St, Mobile, AL 36603. Friends and family are encouraged to gather together to honor Linda's memory, share stories, and find comfort in the community she cherished so deeply.
