Linda Collins Varner, born on July 25, 1936, in Columbus, Arkansas, gently departed this world on May 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of her devoted family. Linda lived a life filled with warmth, adventure, and cherished memories that will forever linger in the hearts of those she touched. Linda was the beloved daughter of Clarence and Dorothy Collins, who predeceased her. She was a loving wife to Joe Charles Varner, with whom she shared 67 beautiful years of marriage, having wed on June 12, 1958. Together, they built a family that became the center of Linda's universe. She is survived by her husband Joe, her daughter Jo Lynne Varner and her husband Mike Surrette, her granddaughter Megan Olshavsky and husband Jonathan, her grandson John Robert Surrette, and her precious great-grandson Jonah Olshavsky. Her nephew Bill Varner and his wife Sandy, along with dear friends and travel companions Mike and Anita Brisco, also survive her, each holding a special place in her heart. Linda was a proud graduate of Saratoga High School, class of 1954, and furthered her education at Harding College and the University of Arkansas, from which she graduated in 1958. She dedicated her professional life to shaping young minds as a junior high science teacher in the Texarkana Arkansas School District, where her passion for education left an indelible mark on countless students. Her love for travel took her and Joe across the globe, with adventures spanning every hemisphere. The Galapagos Islands and Alaskan cruises held a special place in her heart, as did the vibrant experiences of Barbie conventions, where her passion for doll collecting flourished. A loyal supporter of George Strait, Linda attended more concerts than she could count, and her enthusiasm for Razorback basketball was a shared joy with Joe, whether cheering from their cozy home or traveling afar for a tournament. Linda's legacy includes her culinary prowess, with family and friends fondly recalling the warmth and hospitality of her kitchen and the joy-filled gatherings at her beloved lake house. Her nurturing spirit and zest for life were felt by all, from the smallest moments to the grandest adventures. A service to celebrate Linda's remarkable life will be held on May 20, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Saratoga Cemetery in Saratoga, Arkansas. Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Manor in Benton and Gentiva Hospice of Bryant for their compassionate care and support during Linda's final days.
