Linda Cheryl Smedley

Linda Cheryl Smedley, a cherished mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away suddenly on June 10, 2026, from an unexpected illness. Born on May 10, 1947, in Pasadena, Texas, Linda was a woman whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of many. Linda was the beloved daughter of John W. Smedley and Dessie O. Toler Smedley. She was predeceased by her father, John, and her brother, John L. Smedley. She leaves behind her loving mother, Dessie, her devoted daughter Brittaney A. Smedley and her son-in-law Christopher, as well as her cherished siblings Cindy Murphy, Crystal Suitor, Amber Welch, and Colburn Smedley. A proud graduate of Sam Rayburn High School in 1965, Linda embarked on a long and dedicated career with Shell Oil Company, where she worked for 36 years in the corporate secretary's office under the guidance of Mr. Jack Edrington. Her commitment and reliability were a testament to her strong work ethic and her ability to be the dependable "second hand" that everyone relied on. Linda had a zest for life that was reflected in her many interests. She found joy in shopping on her favorite networks, QVC and the Food Network, and loved spending weekends at the farmers market with her dear friend, Ms. Sandra. Her passion for life was matched only by the love she showed to her family, especially her daughter Brittaney, whom she cared for deeply. Known for her spice and insistence on doing things her way, Linda's vibrant personality left a lasting impression on everyone she met. A service to celebrate Linda's life will be held on August 8, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Silver Sycamore, located at 5111 Pine Ave., Pasadena, Texas 77503. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have come to honor Linda's memory, knowing that the love and support she received was a true blessing. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Linda's memory to a charity of your choice. Her legacy of kindness and generosity will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
