With heavy hearts and profound love, we announce the peaceful passing of Linda Caton on July 3, 2026, at the age of 79. Surrounded by her cherished family at her home, Linda's gentle spirit left this world, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and unwavering faith.
Born on October 5, 1946, Linda was a beacon of light to all who knew her, embodying a life rich in love and service. She held many roles throughout her remarkable journey, each reflecting her diverse talents and dedication to those around her. Linda’s career was a tapestry of varied experiences, from her time as an editor at the Harrison Daily Times to her adventurous days as a truck driver, and finally owning and delighting many with her ice cream shop in the Harrison Mall.
Linda’s heart was deeply rooted in her faith as a devoted member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. Sharing the teachings of Jehovah and the life of Jesus Christ was her greatest joy, as she found her purpose in spreading love and hope to others. Her spiritual dedication was a guiding force throughout her life, touching the lives of many with her kindness and wisdom.
On August 27, 1971, in a moment filled with love and promise, Linda married her beloved husband, Jackie Caton. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, companionship, and unwavering support for each other. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Linda is survived by her devoted husband, Jackie Caton, and her loving son, Dana Caton, along with his wife, Susan. Her granddaughter, Gabi Caton, was a source of immense pride and joy, as Linda took great pleasure in assisting with her homeschooling and nurturing her growth with tender care. Linda is also survived by her brother, Jimmy Crook, and his wife, Patience, as well as her sister-in-law, Mary Eddings, and her husband, Glenn. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who were touched by her generosity and love.
Preceding Linda in death are her parents, ----- and ---- Crook, her beloved son Raymond Caton, her brothers Bill and Colby Crook, her in-laws Woodrow and Etha Caton, and her sister-in-law Patsy Hefley. Their memories remain cherished in the hearts of those who knew them.
Linda’s nurturing spirit extended beyond her family, as she was a caregiver to many. Her love for animals, especially chickens, was well-known, and she found joy in tending to their needs, embodying a life of gentle stewardship.
In honoring Linda’s life and memory, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of choice, reflecting Linda’s generous heart and her desire to make the world a better place.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held to honor her legacy, filled with stories of her kindness, strength, and unwavering faith. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived—a life marked by love, devotion, and a commitment to her family and faith.
Linda Caton will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched, guiding us with her love and grace.
