Linda Barrow

February 19, 1940 — April 1, 2026

Linda Barrow, a beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on April 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 19, 1940, in Craven County, North Carolina, Linda was a beacon of kindness and grace, touching the lives of everyone she encountered. Linda was the cherished daughter of Edward Harold and Martha Morris Ballenger, who predeceased her, along with her siblings, Peggy Mayeaux and Harold Ballenger Jr. She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Arvis Barrow, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and companionship. Linda is also lovingly remembered by her children, Angela Deller and her husband David, and Joy Barrow, who were the light of her life. A proud graduate of Farm Life High School in Vanceboro, NC, Linda furthered her education in Virginia Beach, VA, where she attended secretarial school. Her career began as a secretary and bookkeeper at Craven Electric Supply Company, and later she brought her meticulous attention to detail to Arvis Barrow Construction Company. Linda's work ethic and dedication were unparalleled, and she retired in 2010, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and warmth. Linda was a devout member of Broad Street Christian Church where she found great joy and fellowship. Her involvement in the church community, especially the cherished CWF Retreats at Black Mountain, was a testament to her faith and her love for connecting with others. Her passions were many, with dancing being a favorite pastime in her younger years. Linda's heart found peace in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was reading in her favorite chair on the back porch, on the beach, or overlooking the ocean from a balcony. She also found immense joy in traveling with Arvis, creating beautiful memories through cruises in the Caribbean. Linda's life was characterized by her thoroughness and efficiency, qualities that made her an invaluable friend and confidante. She was always ready to lend a helping hand, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Mary Hacker and the compassionate members of Craven County Hospice, Ashley Farmer, and April Deese, for their unwavering love and support during Linda's illness. Their kindness brought comfort and peace to Linda and her family during a difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Linda's memory to Craven County Hospice or Broad Street Christian Church, organizations that were close to her heart. Linda Barrow's life was a testament to love, faith, and service. Her spirit will continue to inspire and live on in the hearts of those she touched. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered with love and admiration.
