Lina Jean (Wilson) Vlk

October 25, 1931 — October 25, 2026

Lina Jean (Wilson) Vlk, affectionately known as Jean, was known as Granny Fanny in her later years by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 10:16 am at her home on the very day of her 95th birthday. Born on October 25, 1931, in Southern Pines, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Ferris Hays Wilson and Maude Hawley Wilson. Her family relocated to Washington, D.C., where she spent her early childhood. She grew up alongside her siblings, Barbara, Carolyn, and Ferris, and later welcomed her half-sister, Patricia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ferris Hays Wilson and Maude Hawley Wilson, and her infant daughter and her son, Michael Joseph Vlk. On December 26, 1946, Jean married Frank Charles Vlk, and together they raised a family for 28 years. They had nine children and experienced the immeasurable joys and profound sorrows that come with a life devoted to family. She endured the heartbreaking loss of her infant daughter in 1951 and beloved son Michael Joseph Vlk in 1975. Above all, her greatest legacy is the family she leaves behind, survived by her eight children: Juana Vonk (Ron), Constance Vlk, Frank Vlk (CeCee), Eric Vlk, Roger Vlk, Marlene Stilley (James Allen), Mark Vlk (Lydia), Chris Vlk (Nasha), and numerous grandchildren: Jason Vonk, Stephanie Vlk, Alexandria Vlk, Ryan and Brook Williams, Sean, Anna and Nathan Vlk, Wyatt Vlk. Including great-grandchildren: Cameron Lisse, Banan and Cavan Kearns, Evelyn Williams, Julian Williams, Kyla, Riley, and Jude Vlk. Jean worked for Brown & Williams before eventually retiring to Palm Coast, Florida, where she spent her later years enjoying life to the fullest. Though her voice may now be silent, her spirit, her strength, and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.

The 23rd Psalm

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
