In Loving Memory

Lillie Bell (Stewart) Shackleford
September 25, 1932 — April 28, 2026
It is with deep love and profound respect that we celebrate the life of Lillie Bell (Stewart) Shackleford, who passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, at the age of 93, enveloped in the warmth of her daughter and immediate family. Born on September 25, 1932, in Biloxi, Mississippi, Lillie's journey was one of grace, resilience, and unwavering faith.
Lillie was the cherished daughter of Mom and Marvin Shackleford. Her life was marked by deep family bonds, some of which were heartbreakingly severed with the passing of her beloved sister, Alma Rainey, and brother, whom she held dear. Within the same year, Lillie endured the profound loss of her son, Rodney Shackleford, a sorrow that she bore with remarkable strength and grace.
Surviving her are her devoted sister, Louise Stewart McCoy, and brother, Roosevelt Stewart, who shared in the joys and trials of her life. Lillie's legacy lives on through her children: Gregory Shackleford, Judy Smith, Marvin Shackleford, and the youngest, Jermaine Shackleford. Her love also extends to her treasured grandchildren, Aimee Shackleford, Elysia Shackleford, and others, as well as her great-grandchild, who will carry forward her spirit of kindness and compassion.
Her journey in love began when she married her life partner in Milwaukee, WI, where they nurtured a loving home and a thriving family of four children. Lillie's educational path led her to a career in nursing, where she excelled with dedication and a no-nonsense approach. Her work at local nursing homes and Jewish care centers was a testament to her nurturing spirit and commitment to the well-being of others.
Lillie was a woman of faith, deeply rooted in her Christian beliefs. For many years, she was an active member of her church, and even when she chose to worship at home, she found solace in programs like those of Jim Swaggert. Her faith guided her in all aspects of life, from her cherished hobbies of gardening and cooking, to the heartfelt conversations she shared with friends and family over the phone.
Her home was a beacon of warmth and hospitality, a place where everyone felt welcome and loved. Lillie's kindness and compassion left an indelible mark on everyone she met, and her encouragement inspired her children and grandchildren to pursue careers in nursing and healthcare.
Lillie Bell (Stewart) Shackleford's life will be celebrated at a private funeral ceremony, in accordance with her family's wishes. While the ceremony is private, the love and impact she had on those around her will continue to be felt by all who knew her.
In her passing, as in her life, Lillie leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in eternal peace, watching over her loved ones with the same care and affection she bestowed upon them in life.
