April 13, 1951 — May 23, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Lillian Christine Hawkins, who left this world peacefully at her home on May 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Lillian was born on April 13, 1951, in Los Angeles, California, to Leonard Word and Boyice Mae Benjamin. She lived a life filled with warmth, laughter, and an indomitable spirit that touched the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Lillian was predeceased by her beloved parents, Leonard and Boyice, her younger brother, Lawerence Word, her devoted husband, Eugene Hawkins, and her great-granddaughter, Khylee Rae Macon. She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her daughters Darlene Watson (Alvin) and Vicky Porter; siblings Lenoria Flournoy, Letitia Word, Deann Shine, Leonard Word, Leonis Word, Lonnie Word, Lass Word, Johnny, and Stanford Fassett; her treasured granddaughters Alvinisha Watson, Nichelle, Serrena, and Kyra Landers; and her adored great-grandson Khiry Macon. Her beloved dog, Rexxy, will miss her gentle presence. Lillian dedicated many years of her professional life to Arco Refinery, which later became BP. Throughout her career, she formed lasting friendships and left a lasting impression with her colleagues. Upon retirement, she embraced the joys of family life, filling her days with warmth and laughter. In her personal life, Lillian was a beacon of light and joy. She was known for her spirited nature, never shying away from speaking her mind. Her family fondly remembers her dancing around and playing with her great-grandson, a testament to her playful and loving spirit. Lillian's culinary skills were legendary, with her shepherd’s pie becoming a family favorite. Her head would bop to music, bringing smiles and laughter to those around her. A fan of "Little House on the Prairie" and "Judge Faith," Lillian enjoyed the comfort of her favorite shows. Lillian's hobbies included spending quality time with her family, taking delightful cruises, enjoying meals out, and trying her luck at the casino. Her zest for life and family gatherings were a testament to her nurturing spirit. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Tillman's Mortuary for their compassion and assistance during this difficult time, as well as to Davita Dialysis Center for their dedicated care during her treatments. We are also deeply appreciative of the host of family and friends who have shown love, patience, and support during our time of loss. A celebration of Lillian's life will be held on June 26, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Tillman's Mortuary. We invite all who knew and loved Lillian to join us in honoring her remarkable life and legacy. In our hearts, Lillian Christine Hawkins will forever remain a symbol of love, strength, and joy. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us all.
