Lill Jean Newman Hunt

In loving memory, we gather to celebrate the life of Lill Jean Newman Hunt, born on June 8, 1936, in the quaint town of Curve, Tennessee. Lill passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and cherished memories. Lill was the beloved daughter of the late James Harvey and Alberta Lee (Yancy) Newman. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of over 60 years, Richard Louis Hunt, who was her steadfast partner and the love of her life. Together, they built a beautiful life and family, embodying a love that was strong and enduring. She was also preceded in death by her nine siblings, with whom she shared a lifetime of treasured moments. Lill is survived by her loving son, Ed Hunt, and his wife, Cindy, of Gates, TN. Her family meant the world to her, and her heart was full of love for her grandchildren, Amanda (Justin) Spoon and Lil Ed (Shelby) Hunt, and her five great-grandchildren, Hadleigh, Hinleigh, and Hunter Spoon, and Peyton and Macy Hunt, with one more on the way. She is also survived by her dear siblings, Bessie May Barlow of Ripley, TN, Bertie Sue Morrow of Daphne, AL, and Thomas (Judy) Newman of Halls, TN, with whom she shared daily conversations filled with laughter and love. Lill dedicated 39 years of her career to Universal Electric Motor Manufacturing A.O. Smith, where her hard work and commitment were deeply valued. Beyond her professional life, she was a dedicated member of Curve Baptist Church, where she lovingly cared for the children in the nursery, rocking sweet babies with gentle hands and a warm heart. Lill was a woman of many passions. She cherished her weekends spent shopping at Macy's, often accompanied by her granddaughter, and took delight in finding matching sets and dazzling diamonds. Her love for the outdoors was evident in her joy of camping with family, riding horses, and attending horse shows. She found peace in the simple pleasures of feeding and watching her chickens and birds, and listening to gospel music that lifted her spirit. Family was the cornerstone of Lill's life, and her home was always filled with love and laughter. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her family gatherings were adorned with joy and warmth. Her daily calls to her sisters were a testament to her deep familial bonds. A service to honor Lill's life will be held on September 13, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Curve Baptist Church, located at 87 Curve Woodville Rd., Ripley, TN 38063. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice. As we remember Lill, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, faith, and devotion. Her memory will forever be a guiding light in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
